With the Google Drive desktop app, you can sync or back up files and folders on your computer to a cloud storage service and back up your photos and videos to Google Photo.
In August 2023, the cloud storage application Google Drive will stop working on all personal computers running some versions of Windows considered outdated, but still quite popular among users. Specifically, the app will no longer support 32-bit versions of Windows 8, 8.1, and Windows 10.
Users of these operating system versions can use Google Drive via a browser that supports their operating systems.

Google Drive isn't the only service to end support for Windows 8 and 8.1. New versions of Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers also no longer work on older operating systems. Microsoft has also stopped releasing security patches for the two mentioned versions of its operating system as early as January 2023.
