Question: what is the main difference between the qvo and evo models?
Answer: The main difference is the type of memory being used. The QVOs use the new QLC memory, which had a very fast read speed but a very slow write speed and less write endurance. The EVOs use TLC memory, which is more expensive but doesn't have as much of a disparity between read and write performance.
The QVO uses a cache to help speed up performance with write operations, but when that cache becomes saturated it gets very slow. The EVO operates in a similar way, but then the bottleneck hits you don't notice as drastic a drop in performance. As such the QVO drives are better suited for supplementary storage, while the EVOs are more in line with what you'd want for a primary system drive. see less
